The Best Album of 2017

It got me through a heartbreak and it gets me through days where I feel offbeat. This album has a special energy radiating that I haven't felt in any other album which is why it's not only my personal favorite album of 2017 but probably in overall the best albums of all the time.

Easily the best pop album of the year, Lorde delivers a gorgeous follow up to her debut Pure Heroine. “Green Light” is a song so good that she could just replace the rest of the tracks with poorly-sung Madonna covers and this album would still make the list. Okay, maybe not, but it’s still easily my song of the year. The album is beautifully constructed. Lorde is as open as ever about her feelings, and willfully admits her shortcomings with grace and dignity. She does it in a way that we can all relate to, and we can’t help but want to protect her at all costs.

It breaks your heart then picks you off the floor and lets you know everything’s going to be okay. It’s a sonically cohesive concept album with new, vibrant, and genius sounds that break your heart and make you want to dance at the same time, just like you’re Lorde herself at the party getting dumped. The lyrics feel like hearing the truth for the first time in your life. It’s full of poetry and easily quotable lyrics all at once. I’ve never heard a breakup so accurately and artistically and beautifully expressed. This is what Album of the Year sounds like and quite possibly one of the greatest albums of our generation.

lorde’s new album makes me wanna… sit in the passenger seat of a car wearin comfy clothes while someone i love drives through a city late at night, my heart so full that it chokes me up and all i can do is rest my head against the cool window and just breathe and know i am alive, and that is enough for right now
